Our Programs and Services

Comprehensive programs designed to empower and uplift communities

Tuition Centre

Education helps children build knowledge, develop skills, and create a better future. After the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted schooling, many children in slum communities lacked access to online learning due to the absence of smartphones and internet facilities.

Responding to requests from parents in Clive Battery, North Chennai, tuition classes were started to support students in their studies. Teachers and community mobilisers encourage regular attendance and learning.

Currently, 40 underprivileged students attend these classes, where they receive academic support and life skills training to promote their overall development and well-being.

Support for Orphans and Widows

Poverty and hunger are closely connected, affecting the health, education, and well-being of vulnerable families, especially children and women. Lack of nutritious food can lead to malnutrition, illness, and poor overall development.

To address this need, SOW CARE provides dry ration and nutrition support to underprivileged families in Chennai. Priority is given to semi-orphans, orphans, widows, and other vulnerable groups based on available resources. During 2020–2021, SOW CARE supported 180 families with essential dry ration supplies.

Education support

Education is often referred to as the great equalizer: It can open the door to jobs, resources, and skills that a family needs to not just survive, but thrive. Access to high-quality primary education and supporting child well-being is a globally-recognized solution to the cycle of poverty

This is a major challenge for SOW CARE because the education needs are more among the students. Due to the huge fee structure we could not help every one due to lack of funds and donations. Through the support of Donors we could help only few students for their higher studies and we need more donors to address this issue in the near future.

This year 2022-2023, 60 Poor School/College going students supported with education supplies and school/college fees.
